FUN OUTDOOR LEARNING

Fun Learning Opportunities for the Outdoors

Hello everyone! With the weather being so nice, XSTREAM wanted to give some extra learning opportunities for everyone in the family that can be done outdoors!

1. A Sensory Walk Writing Activity
Take a seat somewhere nice and comfortable with a piece of paper and pencil. Write down what you see, hear, feel, smell, and taste. After you have done that, you can write a fictional narrative or a personal narrative that takes place in the same area you are now. Use your sensory details in your writing. You can also write a story from the perspective of an element. Be Creative!

2. Inference Riddles
Inferencing is when you use the text clues plus your background knowledge to infer something (observation). This activity works on inferencing. Students write down three riddles describing the outside object but not naming it. Then they give the riddles to a sibling or family member and they guess what the object is.

3. Reading a book
Just take some time to sit and read a book! It’s relaxing and fun.

4. Chalk math
Take some chalk and write down some math problems. Work on advanced multiplication, division, and fractions.

Enjoy some of these ideas at home and enjoy the nice weather!
